Dr. Arteaga, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. Theresa Arteaga, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology) received her bachelors of science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in biochemistry and environmental toxicology. She attended Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She completed an internship at Animal Specialty Center and then joined the Animal Medical Center in New York City, for her residency in Medical Oncology. She became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2009.

In 2010, Dr. Arteaga packed up her life and headed out west – to California and started Animal Cancer Center in 2015. Dr. Arteaga and Animal Cancer Center are involved in many community outreach organizations and charities including Bark for Life, Peace of Mind Dog Rescue, Panetta Institute, Spector Dance, BirchBark Foundation and many others. She is the president of the Monterey Bay Veterinary Medical Association and lectures both locally and nationally.

Dr. Arteaga has a special interest in immunotherapies, lymphoma and melanoma, striving for patients to live a normal life while being treated for cancer. She enjoys hiking with her pack of rescue pups Maya, Clay, Paige, and Margot and reading with her cats Eggnog and Otis. She tries to keep up with her ballet and yoga classes but really goes to listen to the music, which is a passion.
